South Sound 911's Records department provides services for the law enforcement and criminal justice communities, and the public.
Behind-the-scenes, the Records department provides law enforcement and criminal justice services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As an information custodian, the department maintains various reports and records for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Tacoma, Lakewood, University Place, Edgewood, Roy and Ruston Police Departments. This work includes the receipt, duplication, distribution, filing and storing of information, as well as the auditing and validating of information, and the maintenance of retention and destruction schedules. Personnel also operate 24-hour data radio channels to work closely with patrol units to confirm warrants, coordinate impounds and perform various searches to provide assistance.
