Information Technology

The Law Enforcement Support Agency (LESA) Information Technology division’s mission is to provide useful, accurate, sustainable systems and services for law enforcement. A team of developers, project managers, network engineers and client services technicians work together to deliver technology solutions to meet the needs of demanding professions – which include police officers, detectives, forensics investigators, specialized task forces, evidence management, prosecutors, administrative staff, and LESA’s own Communications and Records divisions.

Field Officer Our over 1,600 users access our systems from their city or rural office, in the field, or on the go via laptop in their patrol cars. LESA has the capacity to store almost 30 terabytes (30TB) of information, which is provided via a fault-tolerant platform and a robust network infrastructure. We are always in search of new technologies to streamline processes and ensure a secure network environment for our customers.

Besides providing tools and access for law enforcement data, LESA provides Internet access, web hosting, email, access to regional government networks, and PC support for smaller agencies. Our agency’s “help desk,” the Support Center, is trained and equipped to troubleshoot and provide technical assistance to the customers using our technologies, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

Scanning We also assist our customer agencies in meeting the needs of the citizens in which they serve. For instance, LESA’s Citizen Online Reporting, encourages the public to submit their own reports for minor crimes online – crimes such as vandalism, lost property, and low-level theft. An article in The News Tribune publicized the launch of the program as “police power in your keyboard” (December 13, 2006). See Citizen Online Reporting and the LESA-produced training video here.

Guided by the LEADS (Law Enforcement Activity and Data System) strategic plan and our customer agencies, LESA IT has created a state-of-the-art information management system integrating law enforcement, the jail, courts, prosecutors and the state – agencies that often vie for resources. Through technology development, LESA IT’s innovative technology solutions have allowed officers to be more effective and proactive – and better prepared to assist our community.
